As you know, we are constantly challenging our children to be the best that they can be and as part of ambition to achieve the best that they can. A good example of this is the huge success that has been our ‘Reading Stars’ initiative. Building on this success, we are delighted to share our ‘Mental Maths Challenge’ with you.
Each child will receive their own ‘Mental Maths Challenge Passport’ with a series of maths challenges set inside. We are asking our children to work on these individual challenges in their own time and, when they feel ready, they ask their teacher to challenge them. When they complete a challenge, they will receive a sticker to prove it! When their challenge card is complete, they’ll receive a special certificate in our celebration assembly and move straight on to their next passport. As these challenges are progressive, they get increasingly difficult with each challenge passport.
We are encouraging all of our children to know all key number facts in ‘all ways’, this allows them to recall these facts quickly and use them to solve more complex problems. Please encourage your child to practice their maths challenge skills whenever and wherever they can. All children will start on challenge 1, how quickly can they move on to challenge 2? We can’t wait to see!
