Curriculum Overview Summer Term

23rd May

It was lovely to see some parents at our weekly reading session this morning.    Come and join us on a Wednesday morning from 8.45 am - 9.15 am.

Remember our weekly book sharing session is on every Wednesday.

Tuesday 22nd May

Today was our class ball.  The children came dressed in very smart outfits and all the girls looked beautiful!

We danced, laughed, ate and had a fabulous time.  We even put our formal dancing into practise.  Take a look at our pictures to see our special day.

This half term we have been looking at Fairytales, we have read our favourite tales and learnt some new ones. Just some of the things the children have enjoyed are building castles, reading stories and pretending to be characters from their favourite story. Next week will be having a Cinderella ball to celebrate.
As part of our RE lessons, we have been looking at friendship and what it means to us. The children made friendship bracelets for each other.

Beautiful Butterflies!

Beautiful Butterflies! 1

We have been looking after caterpillars!

We have watched them move in to their chrysalis, and this week released 5 beautiful butterflies which the children loved.

Parents Reading Letter - February 2018

What are we learning this term?

Thank you for attending our Phonics presentation during our open day. We enjoyed sharing with you how your children are learning to read and write. We hope you found it useful too!  This is the slideshow with the useful website addresses at the end.

Phonics at Birchwood C of E Primary School

Parent Open day  -  17th October 2017

An invitation for you to come and play with your child.

This event is a great opportunity for you to chat about your child and where we can discuss progress.  We hold this session during the school day so you get to play with your child in the class and they can show you around.

You will also have the opportunity to hear how we teach phonics to your children and how you can support them at home with this skill.

What a great start we have had to the school year. The children are enjoying exploring the different areas of learning in FS2 and making new friends.
