Welcome to the Year 3 class page. This is where you'll be able to find out exactly what's happening in our class. We're excited to see what this year has in store!
Year 3 have PE on Tuesday afternoons. Please ensure that your child brings the correct PE kit to school on this day. It is also vital that your child brings their reading books and reading diaries to school. Reading is a huge focus in Year 3 and it is very important to read with your child at home. Therefore, reading diaries will be checked twice a week and certificates will be given out in Friday's assembly. We also encourage children to engage with Mathletics and Spellodrome at home in order to boost mental maths skills and spelling.
Class Teacher: Miss L. Bolton

Year 3 were lucky enough to have a look at some real snake skin! We learnt all about how a snake sheds its skin and why. We couldn't believe that it actually felt dry and not slithery. We could even see where the snake's eyes were!!!
Year 3 have been very busy in Maths learning how to tell the time! To help us, we decided to get practical and make our own clocks to take home. Children can't wait to keep practicing and now have their own resources to do so! Have fun, Year 3!
We had SO much fun erupting our very own volcano! We used vinegar and bicarbonate soda for the lava and the children loved witnessing first-hand what happens when a volcano erupts! It was a very messy afternoon and the children cannot wait to make their own erupting volcanoes next week.
This term, we will be learning all about Natural Disasters including Volcanoes, Tsunamis and Earthquakes! The children had great fun exploring the different layers of the earth and their functions using play dough. By the end of the week, we will be writing our very own information text all about the structure of the earth and we can't wait to share them!
Year 3 have been working very hard writing their own adventure stories. On Tuesday 27th March, we visited Nursery and read our stories to them. The children read confidently and beautifully and nursery were a great audience!
On Wednesday 21st March, we were lucky enough to work with an award-winning author, Stuart Reid. The children took part in a creative writing workshop and they were thoroughly engaged and inspired to want to read a wide range of books! The children were completely captivated by his energy and silliness, whilst learning about the lives of his wacky characters. We got to ask lots of excellent questions too and learnt a lot about what inspires him to write. By the end of the workshop, the children were so excited and eager to write their own fantastic stories. We can't wait to see them! Well done, Year 3!
The children had a wonderful time tasting meat, vegetables and fruit from the Mediterranean.
They enjoyed talking about where the food came from and discussing the similarities and differences of everyday English food.
Thank you to all Year 3 parents who came to read with their children on Thursday 1st March for World Book Day. The children loved reading to their parents and also reading stories to their little brothers/sisters in the reading area! It was so wonderful to see some fantastic reading taking place in our lovely classroom. Remember to keep reading at home in order to gain your certificates!
On Wednesday 10th January, Year 3 had the opportunity to visit their local Tesco as part of their Science topic on nutrition. We had a wonderful morning and learnt about where food comes from, how bread is made and we also got to explore the fish counters and the freezer. It was so cold! We were very lucky as we were able to taste lots of new food too!
