Welcome to the Year 6 class page. This is where you'll be able to find out exactly what's happening in our class. We're excited to see what this year has in store!
Class Teacher: Miss K. McGuire
Teaching Assistants: Mrs. K. Allen & Mrs. M. Gibson
This week Year 6 used their ratio skills to create their own mocktails.
They scaled a recipe up and down, measured juices and finally enjoyed their mocktail in the sunshine!
This week Year 6 and Mrs Bate made butter.
There was lots of shaking and waiting and when it was ready, lots of eating with lovely fresh bread.
Year 6 and Mrs Bate completed some engineering tasks, working in groups the children had 2 challenges. Firstly to build towers from spaghetti and marshmallows, thinking about structures, strength, joins and bases. Secondly they had to build the tallest tower they could from balloons, the biggest obstacle to overcome was how to join them together...lots of sellotape was used!
Year 6 children planned and held a class debate about whether evacuation should or shouldn't have happened during World war 2.
They had some really strong points and put their arguments across in a mature and sensible way.
Y6 used their new learning from Maths to bake biscuits.
They've had to scale down recipes, convert measure and read different scales!
